Boston - Leisure Mall Cheras

I know right, eventually an update. Haha

My family and I decided on some asian food tonight, so we decided to drop by at Boston. We've been there once before and it was good so we decided to drop by again. Here's a review on the drinks and food. Sorry we didn't order everything on the menu but just thought that I would let you know my takes on the few things that we ordered

BosTea (Left)
This is their signature tea that they proudly names BosTea. Its actually Jasmine Tea which comes in a very tall glass slash jug thingy majiggy. It has a very distinct tea taste and has a very tea-ish after-taste that kinda makes your tongue feel tangy, if you know what I mean. But being a non milk tea lover, I really enjoyed it. Perfect for the hot afternoons, not too sweet, just perfect.

Red Bean Cendol (Right)
Granny was craving for Cendol so we ordered this. It looked kinda cendolish with its green cendol and red bean at the bottom. But the taste, not that great. It tasted like milk, cendol and red bean. Something that you might wanna pass, unless you like the combination of plain milk, cendol and red bean. Lol XD

Lychee Blossom Tea (Right)
I know right, sounds pretty, and that's exactly why I ordered. Just me being girly.
It had lychee, green and pink small round jellies. Again it has the distinct tea flavor, leaves a tinge on your tongue. I liked the tea but didn't like the bland tasting round jellies it had inside. Lychee wasn't fresh tho, tasted canned and over-ripped. Would be best to order the tea on its own.

Fish Ball Noodle
I was hope for a place like this to actually have master the typical fish ball soup noodle. But no, there is no taste to the soup, just very ajinomoto-fied. Fishballs were not chewy, the 'foochuk' was just skin, no filling. Was overall very bland. But however was a very generous serving of noodles, never ending noodles.

Thai Style Chicken Cop Rice
This was actually much tastier than the fishball noodles, anyway how wrong can someone go with Thai style chicken. Just fry and make the sweet sour spicy sauce. This dish was on promotion, so from the usual RM14.90 it was RM9.90. Size of serving was alright. Overall alright.

Nasi lemak with Mutton Curry
In the perfect nasi lemak, both sambal and the rice is very important. In this this dish I think they fairly well. Rice was pleasantly fragrant and sambal was pleasant however for me I cannot have nasi lemak without the kacangs! Anyhow the mutton was very well cooked, it was tender and the gravy was okay but I think it would be nicer if it was a tad spicier.

Curry Chicken Dry Curry Noodles
This is one of their prettier dishes, had the reds the greens and the neutral colors. Curry was your typical mother's curry chicken, nothing interesting. This came with a side of soup which was again bland as it was the same soup as the Fish ball Noodles. It was generally tasty enough, and again had a generous serving of noodles.

Nyonya Curry Noodles
This was generally quite yummy, yes I said quite. Being nyonya it is lemak kinda curry soup and had the right amount it lemak. Noodles were again way generous, 2 person could share. Not too spicy, overall kinda good.

Overall the food is reasonably priced, it ranged from RM8.90 and above. Has a very large variety food, however I think they could improve.

Jonker88 - Melaka

When we decided to go to Malacca we knew that we had to prepare ourselves mentally and stomachally for the ultimate food adventure. And for those that are looking forward for Chicken Rice Ball reviews, sorry this is not the post for you as we actually purposefully intentionally avoided it.

Think about it, they have to use their hands to make those balls right, as they speak, rub noses, moving their bucket of rice around, sweaty palms. Eeeeh

Honestly I had no idea what the name of the place that we wanted to go, I just knew that I wanted to go to the place that a lot of people was queuing for. Haha, yes i succumbed to peer pressure  hey I'm still human okay just like the other 14 billion people around the world is.

So the place is called JONKER88:

Look like a really long que but actually hor because the stalls are outside so it seems like the place is bursting. They are very efficient in taking orders and preparing the dishes. It is a self service place, after placing order your food will be ready in 2 minutes.

As the place is like forever full its better to look for a place first before ordering your food, unless you don't mind eating while standing. You most probably have to tumpang table because really got a lot of people.

The shop gives a very boutique-like feel, they also have very interesting framed random things. There is also a Fishcake slash Lobak kinda stall inside but not much people orders from them.

Let's get to the juicy bit. Here is what we had:

ASAM LAKSA
Fantastic! The soup has the perfect combination of sour and spicy that it keeps you wanting more. The fish is  boiled to the perfect state that it melts in your mouth and most importantly does not make the soup all too fishy, if you know what i mean.

Something that you don't see often is that they put prawn as well in the bowl of asam laksa, for a seafood lover like me it was like a surprise in a box.

SHRIMP DUMPLING NOODLES IN GRAVY
I'll give it a 7 out of 10 la. The noodles nothing special, gravy probably just black sauce, kicap and oyster sauce. But the shrimp dumplings were good. Nice and crispy.

FISH BALL SOUP NOODLES
Yay fishball!! Everyone loves fishballs! The noodles again is just 'Meh' but fishballs were fresh, bouncy and yumz. Soup obviously 'ajinomota-ed'.

Malacca is famous for its Cendol but being a Ice Kacang fan i had to order the Baba Ice Kacang and next to it is the cendol.

ICE KACANG
First of all, NO KACANG! I am the kind of person who mixes the whole thing then makan slowly, so while mixing I was searching for the kacang but no KACANG. Grr, thats the best part ma. Overall it was alright la, but can do without.

CENDOL
Gula Melaka is the essential part of completing the perfect Cendol and of course the green wormies as well. The gula melaka used for this Cendol was perfect, it tastes awesome. All the ingredients blended in together perfectly, the downside was that some of the green wormies were still frozen. Aint nobody like frozen wormies, the jelly like soft ones are the fresh ones.

SAGO GULA MELAKA
Translated it is also know as Glutinous Ball with Melaka Brown Sugar, lol, don't take it seriously I tembak only. First impression was WTF, why so small wan? Its the size of your palm holding a char siew pau, I know right my illustrations are awesome.

Anyhow this was definitely yummy, you can taste the authenticity of the nyonya flavors, the gula melaka, coconut milk (santan) and sago. Such a simply dessert yet mind blowing, its a much have!

BABA MANGO ICE KACANG
Yalar, again no kacang. This is more for the sweet tooth and mango lovers. This is the best dessert to have after the long long hot hot walks at Jonker Street. Maybe more of a kiddy dessert.
You can taste the mango cordial in it, which means artificial mango sweetness. In it you can also find corn and kidney beans.

This is definitely a place to visit when you are in Melaka. Be prepared to squeeze your way in between the sweaty people queuing to order and collecting their food.

Prepare to vulture around to see who finishing their food and stand next to them and just give them a dead stare so that they finish faster so that you can get a seat. Hahah. And yes also be considerate to leave right after finishing your meal as many others also waiting for place to sit.
